Welcome to Our Wedding Information Site for Laine and Jesse

Hello Family and Friends, this is our new website to give you information on our wedding plans, Boulder accomodations, and activities. We are so excited to see each and everyone of you, and to experience how collectively special this time will be. PLEASE CHECK BACK REGULARLY AS WE PLAN TO ADD AND UPDATE INFORMATION THROUGHOUT THE COMING WEEKS!!

Save the Date : September 30, 2006

The day is soon approaching and preparations are underway. We will be married at a charming 1880's swedish chapel in the country. After the ceremony, a reception will follow at the Chautauqua Dining Hall which lies at the base of the Flatirons adjacent to one of the last remaining tall grass prairies.

Schedule of Events - For our out-of-town guests arriving early, please come to a barbeque and drinks social Thursday evening in Boulder. Friday evening is the rehearsal dinner. Since we have limited this to the wedding party and aunts and uncles, please take advantage of a night out in Boulder. Following some sight-seeing and adventure, we will hold the ceremony on Saturday at 4 p.m., approximately twenty minutes outside Boulder. Then back into town for immediate cocktails and a full-on celebration. To wrap up with fun, Laine's parents are hosting a brunch Sunday morning for out-of-town guests. Children are welcome at the Thursday night social , wedding ceremony and reception, and Sunday brunch.

Thursday Social - 6 p.m. / Friday Rehearsal & Dinner - 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Saturday Ceremony & Reception - 4p.m. and 5:30 p.m. / Sunday Brunch - 10:30 a.m.

Accommodations

Whether you're looking for a rustic experience or luxury accommodations, Boulder has the place for you. Keep in mind that for all accommodations, west-facing rooms will provide views of the foothills and mountains while east-facing rooms look toward Denver and the plains.

The reception will be held at the historic Chautauqua Dining Hall and adjacent to the dining hall are many quaint cottages that I personally would love to stay in. Hiking trails are literally right out of the door along with a beautiful park and great restaurant. This would be my top pick!! You will want to reserve a Chautauqua cottage as soon as possible.

If you want to spend the bucks and be pampered we have a new hotel downtown on the Pearl Street Mall with an elegant spa and beautiful rooms. You will have a wonderful Boulder experience at the St. Julien with a mix of luxury and location. The Boulder bike path is a block away and some of the best restaurants in town are next door. You can drink to your hearts desire and walk right back to your room!

Another nice hotel that won't bankrupt you is the Boulder Marriott. It is new and also has a lavish spa that I like to go to (occasionally). It's located on the far side of downtown from the reception hall at Chautauqua (around .5 mile from downtown and 2 miles from Chautauqua) and has a nice view of the larger peaks in the mountains. It's also right next door to the movie theatre and the best southwestern restaurant in town! http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/DENBO

The Millennium Harvest House Boulder is a wonderful, luxurious accommodation. It is centrally located between the reception hall at Chautauqua and downtown Boulder (around 1.5 mile each direction). Aside from comfort, the Millennium House is located on Boulder Creek Path along the banks of Boulder Creek, a popular 13 mile scenic jogging, walking and biking path that takes you to the edge of downtown dining and shopping. Bikes are even available for rent from the Harvest House Tennis Proshop.

The Best Western Boulder Inn is a great blend of luxury, price-point, and convenient location about 1 mile from the reception at Chautauqua. The hotel has a nice view of the mountains. It is about 2 miles from downtown Boulder, but even this is simply two right-turns. Many of Jesse's friends have already booked here...but don't let that fool ya.

Restaurants & Bars

Boulder has more food than one can possibly describe. So to assist with all those options, we have created a list of sure-fire favorites:

Somewhat Pricey
1. The Kitchen - All organic, local products. People love it!
2. Frasca Food and Wine - One of Boulder's newest restaurants. Written up in all the foodie magazines. Chef came from the French Laundry in Napa. Call a month before for reservations.
3. Jax Fish House - Great fish dishes and the place to go for oysters. Small and fun. If you don't mind the noise, wonderful experience. Prices vary by order.
4. Flagstaff House - An true experience. Must have reservations. Very expensive but worth the million dollar view. Sits on Flagstaff Mountain.

Moderate Prices
5. Rhumba- Carribean food. Mojitos and other great drinks! Right down the street from Jax's.
6. Brasserie ten ten – the Johnson’s favorite. Great steak frites, brick chicken and just about everything. Fun atmosphere, very lively. Where the locals go.
7. Cheesecake Factory - Despite the name, food is good. A great place to take kids.
8. The Med - Located across from Brasserie ten ten. Same owner. Great wood fired pizzas and tapas. A Jesse favorite!
9. Tom's Tavern - One of Boulders original hamburger joints. Kind of a blast from the past. Has been a Boulder institution forever.
10. The Rio - Very popular "Mexican" restaurant. It has decent food but everyone still goes there for the marg's. They will only serve you three. Laine was the youngest employee they ever hired at age 15.

MOST PLACES IN BOULDER ARE CASUAL DRESS BUT YOU MAY LOOK LIKE A TOURIST IN SHORTS, when in doubt default to jeans or casual pants.

Should you choose other eateries, we recommend you pass up the following:
11: Pasta Jay's - (we call it...well lets not be slanderous). Very touristy with "Italian" (I guess).
12: Boulder Cafe - Very touristy with a great location.

BARS
Upscale and Dynamite
13: St. Julien - weather permitting every Friday night there is a band and dancing. Starts at 6:30 and all ages are welcome. Drink specials. Lots of fun.

One of Laine's classic spots
14: The Kitchen (upstairs) - nice bar and atmosphere. Can get really good bar food.

Very Cool and Sheek
15: Tahoma - new tequila bar with an awesome number of different tequilas.

Historic Western
16: The Corner Bar - Located in the Hotel Boulderado. Boulder's oldest hotel.
Bat Masterson stayed there.

Young and Busy
17. EuroBar - New bar with a happening scene. Gets crowded and crazy after 10:00. Pretty young crowd but if you don't mind check it out.

There are many rooftop bars in town also, Very Cool!!
18. Bacaro - West End. The West End of the Mall seems to be the livliest spot right now.

Gettin' Around

From the Denver Airport - Arriving at separate times but want to share a car? Consider the Boulder Super Shuttle! It leaves at ten minutes past every hour and travels from the Airport to central locations in Boulder - then have friends or family pick you up in town and share a car for the weekend. No reservation is needed from Denver International Airport and cost is negligible at just under $20 one-way. Laine and I have ridden it many times. Reservations are required when traveling from Boulder back to the Airport. http://www.bouldersupershuttle.com/supershuttle/boulder_supershuttle_DIA%20Denver.htm

To help everyone hop around to the different events and activties, we thought this large-scale map would do the trick. (To enlarge the map, right-click on the map and choose "open link in new window," then maximize that window and reference the numbers below.)

Directions and Driving Distances to the Main Events - the maps above and below show the common roads described in this section.

Getting to the Thursday BBQ:
- From Baseline (near the Boulder Inn) travel east approximately 1.8 miles to Foothills Parkway. Go left on Foothills Parkway and travel north...
- From Pearl Street (near the Millinium and other hotels) travel east to the intersection of Foothills Parkway. Go left on Foothills Parkway and travel north...
From either of these starting points, once you are at the intersection of Pearl and Foothills Parkway, travel 2.0 miles to Jay Rd. Go right on Jay till you come to 57th. Travel to 4091 N 57th.

Getting to the Ryssbe Church:
- From Baseline (near the Boulder Inn) travel east approximately 1.8 miles to Foothills Parkway. Go left on Foothills Parkway and travel north...
- From Pearl (near the Millinium and other hotels) travel east to the intersection of Foothills Parkway. Go left on Foothills Parkway and travel north...
- From either of these starting points, once you are at the intersection of Pearl and Foothills Parkway, travel north 4.2 miles to 63rd (Jay Rd is before 63rd and the IBM building is past 63rd). Take a left on 63rd (across westbound traffic) and travel another 4.5 miles. The church is small, white, and on the right-hand side. It sneaks up fast due to vegetation, but it is near the road and clearly visible.

Getting to the Chautauqua Dining/Reception Hall:
- Backtrack from the church on Foothills Parkway to it's intersection with Baseline. Go right on Baseline and travel west towards the foothills/mountains for approximately 1.8 miles. Continue straight across the intersection with 28th and travel approximately 1.2 miles slightly uphill until the tall-grass prairie reserve on the left. Take a left into Chautauqua and the reception/dining hall is an old white, wooden building in the top left corner of the rectangular drive.

We hope that this map is helpful for strictly in-town movement between food, lodging, etc. (To enlarge the map, follow the same directions as above)
