Restaurants & Bars

Boulder has more food than one can possibly describe. So to assist with all those options, we have created a list of sure-fire favorites:

Somewhat Pricey
1. The Kitchen - All organic, local products. People love it!
2. Frasca Food and Wine - One of Boulder's newest restaurants. Written up in all the foodie magazines. Chef came from the French Laundry in Napa. Call a month before for reservations.
3. Jax Fish House - Great fish dishes and the place to go for oysters. Small and fun. If you don't mind the noise, wonderful experience. Prices vary by order.
4. Flagstaff House - An true experience. Must have reservations. Very expensive but worth the million dollar view. Sits on Flagstaff Mountain.

Moderate Prices
5. Rhumba- Carribean food. Mojitos and other great drinks! Right down the street from Jax's.
6. Brasserie ten ten – the Johnson’s favorite. Great steak frites, brick chicken and just about everything. Fun atmosphere, very lively. Where the locals go.
7. Cheesecake Factory - Despite the name, food is good. A great place to take kids.
8. The Med - Located across from Brasserie ten ten. Same owner. Great wood fired pizzas and tapas. A Jesse favorite!
9. Tom's Tavern - One of Boulders original hamburger joints. Kind of a blast from the past. Has been a Boulder institution forever.
10. The Rio - Very popular "Mexican" restaurant. It has decent food but everyone still goes there for the marg's. They will only serve you three. Laine was the youngest employee they ever hired at age 15.

MOST PLACES IN BOULDER ARE CASUAL DRESS BUT YOU MAY LOOK LIKE A TOURIST IN SHORTS, when in doubt default to jeans or casual pants.

Should you choose other eateries, we recommend you pass up the following:
11: Pasta Jay's - (we call it...well lets not be slanderous). Very touristy with "Italian" (I guess).
12: Boulder Cafe - Very touristy with a great location.

BARS
Upscale and Dynamite
13: St. Julien - weather permitting every Friday night there is a band and dancing. Starts at 6:30 and all ages are welcome. Drink specials. Lots of fun.

One of Laine's classic spots
14: The Kitchen (upstairs) - nice bar and atmosphere. Can get really good bar food.

Very Cool and Sheek
15: Tahoma - new tequila bar with an awesome number of different tequilas.

Historic Western
16: The Corner Bar - Located in the Hotel Boulderado. Boulder's oldest hotel.
Bat Masterson stayed there.

Young and Busy
17. EuroBar - New bar with a happening scene. Gets crowded and crazy after 10:00. Pretty young crowd but if you don't mind check it out.

There are many rooftop bars in town also, Very Cool!!
18. Bacaro - West End. The West End of the Mall seems to be the livliest spot right now.
